This is the Spanish translation of the 21-page English guide, which aims to help leadership teams of pastors and lay people engage in faith-based moral deliberation about current social issues, as directed in the third ELCA initiative "Witness to God's Action in the World."
This adaptation of the December 2006 study "Free in Christ to Serve the Neighbor" will engage senior high youth through music, movie clips, stories from young people, and activities. Bible study, prayer, and ELCA social teachings provide a foundation for youth as they reflect on topics related to many aspects of human sexuality.
This study is laid out in two parts in order to do justice to both fundamental challenges and particular concerns about genetic developments. Part A addresses fundamental social, theological and ethical themes, while the sessions of Part B engage particular scientific and biotechnological topics in light of those themes. Both parts invite members of this church to faithful conversation, according to their specific interests and concerns. Each session of "Genetics and Faith" may be used with selected segments of the PBS-NOVA DVD,"Cracking the Code of Life."
The ELCA's message on the organized form of this sinful behavior. It is especially demonic when it exploits children and youth. Commercial sexual exploitation is widespread throughout the United States and around the world, and it continues to grow. To a large extent, this exploitation remains hidden from public attention and ignored by church and society.
